Marvel Spider-Man 2 PC: What Nixxes Actually Delivered

Nixxes Software has become Sony’s PC porting partner since the 2022 acquisition. Marvel Spider-Man 2 was Nixxes’s follow-up to the successful Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales PC ports, and the January 2025 shipping build arrived with the full PC feature stack: NVIDIA DLSS with Ray Reconstruction, AMD FSR 3.1, Intel XeSS, ultra-wide support up to 48:9 for triple monitors, DualSense controller integration, and enhanced ray-tracing options with individual quality settings.

The Ray Reconstruction implementation is the technical headline. Menno Bil, Graphics Programmer at Nixxes, said at launch: “In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC with ray reconstruction enabled, we see more detailed ray-traced reflections and better-defined ray-traced shadows, especially when viewing raytracing effects at steep angles.” Nixxes shipped two DLSS Ray Reconstruction models — the original from DLSS 3.5 and a newly improved model designed for RTX 40 and 50 series GPUs — which produce a more temporally stable image and cleaner ray-traced reflections in the wet-street Manhattan scenes that made the PS5 version a technical showcase.

Marvel Spider-Man 2 PC System Requirements Reality

Nixxes’s published spec tiers give a clear picture. Running the “Ultimate Ray Tracing” preset at 4K 60fps requires an RTX 4090 alongside an Intel Core i9-12900K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and 32GB RAM. Lower presets scale down gracefully — mid-range GPUs can hit 1080p 60 with medium ray tracing and DLSS Quality, and the game explicitly supports dynamic resolution scaling for prior-generation hardware. An SSD is required baseline, and this is a hard requirement rather than a recommendation.

The Deck verification badge remains unassigned at launch. The 32GB RAM recommendation and SSD requirement suggest Deck performance will be marginal for high-density combat and swinging sequences. Handheld players should wait for verified rating or community optimisation guides.

Marvel Spider-Man 2 PC: The Content Package

Marvel Spider-Man 2 on Steam ships with the full base game plus the Digital Deluxe Upgrade option, unlocking additional suits, skill points, photo mode gear, and early unlockables. The story remains what launched on PS5 in October 2023: the Peter Parker symbiote arc weaving through Miles Morales’s bio-electric venom progression, with Venom and Kraven the Hunter anchoring the antagonist roster. Tony Todd’s Venom voice performance carries through untouched — a critical highlight at 2023 launch and one of Todd’s last major performances before his passing.

New Game+ is available on PC from day one, unusual for a Sony port. PS5 players had to wait until March 2024 for the mode. Insomniac has confirmed there is no story DLC coming, which reframes New Game+ as the primary post-campaign hook alongside the suit unlock loop.

Ultra-Wide, Ray Tracing, and what matters Visually

Ultra-wide support up to 48:9 is where Marvel Spider-Man 2 on PC substantially exceeds the PS5 version. Nixxes’s engineers adapted every cinematic in the game for aspect ratios up to 32:9, meaning the story cutscenes work correctly on 21:9 and 32:9 ultra-wide monitors without stretched framing or black bars. Triple-monitor 48:9 support is a rare feature at this level of polish, and Nixxes deserves specific credit for the cinematic adaptation work.

Ray tracing is the other visual pillar. The increased ray tracing geometry detail setting enables higher-quality meshes for reflections, resulting in more detailed and realistic surface interactions across the Manhattan cityscape. The ray tracing object range slider extends the range at which objects are considered for reflections, allowing further optimisation for high-end hardware.

The Traversal Layer That Justifies the PC Upgrade

Web Wings are the mechanical addition that transforms how Marvel Spider-Man 2 plays compared to the 2018 original and the 2020 Miles Morales port. The new Brooklyn and Queens boroughs are larger than the original Manhattan playspace, and the wings give players a genuinely different traversal option rather than a swing variant. Combined with the point-swap between Peter and Miles in open-world exploration, the moment-to-moment feel of moving through the city is stronger than any prior Spider-Man game — arguably better than the 2018 original given the two-character switching layer.

How Marvel Spider-Man 2 PC Compares to the Current Superhero Crop

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League collapsed in 2024. Marvel Rivals took the hero-shooter slot and left single-player superhero space essentially uncontested. Marvel Spider-Man 2 has been the only major single-player superhero title on Steam through 2025 and into mid-2026, and while Marvel Games has partnered with NetEase to bring the Advanced Suit 2.0 into Marvel Rivals, there is no direct competitor eating into the single-player superhero audience. A discount at the time of writing in August 2026 brings the game into an easier-to-recommend price band.

Marvel Spider-Man 2 PC Verdict: 8/10 and the Superhero Sale Worth Acting On

Marvel Spider-Man 2‘s PC version remains the strongest single-player superhero game available on Steam, and at 33% off it is easier to recommend than at any point since launch. The technical port work by Nixxes is good — Ray Reconstruction alone justifies the PC purchase over PS5 for anyone with the hardware to run it. Ultra-wide 48:9 support and day-one New Game+ are meaningful PC-side additions. The PSN account link requirement remains standard for Sony PC releases and is the friction point for players outside PSN-supported regions. Skipped it at launch? This is the window.
