Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter has a Steam page and no release date yet. It is Nihon Falcom’s remake of the second half of the story that started the whole Trails saga.
This follows the 1st Chapter remake
Falcom rebuilt Trails in the Sky FC before this, and 2nd Chapter picks up directly where it left off. If you have not played the first, this is not the entry point — the series is unusually strict about that.
If you are new and want to start properly, begin with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and nothing else. Starting here would spoil the first game’s ending within its opening minutes.
Trails is one of the longest continuous narratives in the medium — a single story running across more than a dozen games, with characters and consequences carrying between them. Sky FC and SC are where it begins, which makes a modern remake the most accessible entry point the series has ever had.
Working through the original trilogy in order rather than cherry-picking matters for a series with this much continuity. Part of the value of a remake is that newcomers can start at the beginning without a twenty-year-old interface in the way.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter picks up with Estelle
The premise, in Falcom’s own framing: Estelle Bright travels Liberl to find out what happened to Joshua and to confront Ouroboros. That is the hook the original built its reputation on, and the reason the remake matters to people who have already played it.
Three publishers, three regions
Nihon Falcom, GungHo Online Entertainment America and Clouded Leopard Entertainment are all attached. That split usually means Japan, the West and Asia are being handled separately, and it can mean staggered release dates.
Whether a third chapter follows is the obvious question. Falcom have not said.
The Action tag is worth noting
Steam lists it under Action, Adventure and RPG. The first of those is the interesting one — the original Sky games were turn-based, so its presence may mean the combat has been reworked, or simply that the tag is loose.
Nothing official has been published either way, so treat it as an open question rather than a fact until Falcom show footage.
No date, no price
Steam lists Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter as coming soon with nothing published on either. Wishlisting is the only action available, and given the 1st Chapter remake shipped first, a date announcement is the next thing to watch for.
