Totally Normal Meat Co. released on Steam on 15 August 2026 from solo developer Zart Zurt, and it is free. It is an idle farming and management sim designed to live at the bottom of your screen while you do something else.

It runs in a strip above your taskbar

The defining feature is where it sits. Zart Zurt built it for persistent desktop integration — a non-intrusive window that stays on top of your taskbar, explicitly intended for multitasking during work or study.

That is a real design decision rather than a gimmick. An idle game competing for full-screen attention is fighting its own genre; one occupying a strip you glance at between tasks fits how people actually play these things.

Hatch, evolve, and try not to think about it

You discover and raise hand-drawn monster species, each with its own growth rate and — the store page’s quotation marks, not mine — its own “resource yield.”

The comedy is entirely in that gap. The presentation is cute and hand-drawn; the business is a fast-food supply chain. Zart Zurt’s own summary is the honest one: it’s cute, it’s automated, and it’s terribly wrong.

Automation with a deliberately uncomfortable dial

Profits go into factory automation — upgrading incubators, automated feeders and high-speed grinders to scale production.

The resource management layer is where the joke sharpens. You balance overhead against production speed, and keep your livestock “content” just long enough to maximise the quality of the final product. Contentment is a production input.

Achievements unlock facility skins and UI themes, so the customisation ties to play rather than to a store.

What the listing includes

This is single-player with Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud saves, Save Anytime, Stats and Playable without Timed Input.

Cloud saves on a free idle game is more than the genre usually offers — progress follows you between machines rather than being trapped on one install.

The build is Windows only and English only. Steam genre tags are Indie, Simulation, Strategy and Free To Play.

It is free — and it is a launch, not a sale

Totally Normal Meat Co. is free to play on Steam, verified on 15 August 2026. There is no price and no discount, so any coverage describing this as being on sale is simply wrong — it launched on 15 August at no cost.

With nothing to pay, the only question is whether you want a darkly comic idle factory sitting above your taskbar. If the premise makes you smile, it costs you a download. If a game about grinding cute monsters into product sounds unpleasant rather than funny, trust that instinct — the tone is the whole point and it does not soften.
