Incident Archives – Flight 882 is a free psychological horror game from Astronix Games, set on a night flight and inspired by true events. You play the First Officer, and the game is built on unease rather than jump scares.
A routine shift that stops being routine
You start with a normal night shift — handling basic tasks, talking to your Captain, going through routine. Then, gradually, things start to feel off.
Astronix are explicit that the game leans into that slow, uneasy feeling rather than trying to scare you with loud moments. Most of the tension comes from the environment and the situation around you, not from anything jumping out.

The cockpit is the whole stage
Listed features are a realistic and atmospheric environment, a VHS narrative presentation, and the flying itself. A confined cockpit is well suited to slow-burn horror — there is nowhere to go, and the routine you are performing becomes the thing that feels wrong.
The VHS framing places it alongside the found-footage horror lineage that has done well on Steam, where degraded video does the work that expensive effects otherwise would.
“Inspired by true events” — worth reading carefully
The store page describes the game as inspired by true events. That phrasing does real work: it signals tonal grounding rather than documentary accuracy, and Astronix have not named a specific incident.
Treat it as atmosphere, not history. If you are sensitive to aviation-disaster themes, that is the flag to note before installing.

Well specified for a free release
The listing includes Steam Achievements, full controller support and Family Sharing — more than most free horror shorts offer.
Localisation is unusually broad at six languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Portuguese, with English carrying full audio. The build is Windows only.
The single Steam genre tag is Free To Play.

Free, with one caveat on availability
Incident Archives – Flight 882 is free — no price, no discount.
One detail worth stating plainly: Steam’s listing currently shows a release date of 18 August 2026 while still flagging the app as Coming Soon. That is a contradiction on Valve’s side rather than ours, and it usually means a listing mid-transition. Check the store page directly to confirm it is installable before setting expectations.
At zero cost, a slow-burn cockpit horror with achievements and controller support is an easy thing to try. Go in expecting atmosphere and dread rather than action.
Full details are on the official Steam store page.
