This Is Golf released on Steam on 18 August 2026 from solo developer SaltySeedGames. It is a first-person golf game where the mouse shapes every shot, and at $4.99 it undercuts almost everything else in the genre.

First person to swing, third person to scout

The shot itself happens in first person — you use the mouse to shape it rather than working a power meter. But you can switch to third person to walk the hole, read the terrain, or watch a friend attempt what the developer calls their “crazy new stinger.”

Splitting the two views by purpose is a sensible design. Aiming wants the committed first-person perspective; understanding a hole wants distance and freedom to move.

A real club set, each with a job

You pick from a range of clubs — the 5 iron through the 9 iron, pitching wedge, driver and putter — and SaltySeedGames note that each has its own purpose, with club selection something you learn by hitting with them.

That is a learning curve rather than a stat screen. The game expects you to build intuition for distance and loft through play, which suits a title that leans on feel over numbers.

Every hole is procedurally generated

This is the structural decision that matters most. Holes are procedural, so you are not memorising a fixed course — each round presents terrain you have not read before.

For a game at this price it also solves the content problem. A handcrafted course would run out; generated holes keep producing new reads, which is what a golf game needs to stay alive past the first evening.

Eight-player lobbies, co-op and PvP

The multiplayer support is broad for a solo-developed release. Lobbies hold up to 8 players, and the Steam listing covers Multi-player, PvP, Online PvP, Co-op and Online Co-op alongside single-player.

Both competitive and cooperative modes online, at eight players, is more than most budget sports games offer.

The build ships on Windows and Linux. Language support is English only. Steam genre tags are Casual, Indie, Simulation, Sports and Strategy.

Four forty-nine at launch

This Is Golf is on Steam at $4.99. The launch discount has ended and this is the standard price, verified on 6 September 2026.

Under five dollars for procedural holes, a full club set and eight-player online play is strong value. The caveats are the usual solo-dev ones — English only, and a small player base means online lobbies depend on the game finding an audience. If you have friends to fill a lobby yourself, that concern goes away.
