Tap To Travel released on Steam on 17 August 2026 from Walking Bear Studio. It turns your ordinary desktop activity into a journey across a real-time world map — every click and keypress you make moves a tiny avatar closer to a destination.
Your normal computer use is the input
You choose a destination and watch your avatar cross an interactive map. Walking Bear’s framing is the whole idea: normal desktop activity becomes visible progress.
That places it in the ambient-companion category rather than the game category. You are not sitting down to play it — it accumulates while you work, and you glance at it. A minimized view keeps it as a small desktop companion, with an expanded view for when you want to follow the route properly.

Skins and companions from 100+ countries
The collection layer draws on more than 100 countries, with unique skins and companions inspired by each. You build a travel collection and customise your avatar with cosmetics from around the world.
Two consumables speed things along: step teleports jump you closer to your current destination, and country teleports move you instantly to a specific country. Day and night modes change the map’s atmosphere.
The chest odds are published — read them
This is the detail that deserves attention, and Walking Bear deserve credit for publishing it. You earn coins by using your computer, spend them on treasure chests, then wait out a cooldown before the next one.
The stated chest contents are 95% cosmetic, 4% step teleport, 1% country teleport, with cosmetic rarity tiers starting at 84.4% Common. The studio notes these may change in future.
Publishing exact drop rates on the store page rather than burying them is unusual and good practice. It also tells you plainly what the loop is: a slow cosmetic collection driven by a cooldown, not a game with progression you can push.

Windows, macOS and wide localisation
Tap To Travel ships on Windows and macOS. Language support is unusually broad, covering English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Arabic, Bulgarian and more, with English carrying full audio.
The listing includes Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud saves and Family Sharing. Cloud saves matter here — a collection built over weeks of desktop use should not be trapped on one machine.
Steam genre tags are Casual, Indie and Simulation.

Four dollars
Tap To Travel is on Steam at $4.99 at the time of writing in August 2026.
At four dollars this is priced as the ambient toy it is. If you like the idea of a small map ticking along beside your work and slowly filling out a cosmetic collection, it delivers exactly that and says so honestly — down to the drop rates.
If you want something to actively play, this is not it. There is no challenge, no fail state and no meaningful decision beyond picking a destination.
Full details are on the official Steam store page.
