Kaleidos is not a game. It is a shader authoring tool from Lotritsa Studio, listed on Steam under Design and Illustration, and it is worth covering here precisely because developers reading this may actually use it.
What it actually does
Kaleidos generates shader patterns. The editor currently offers Perlin noise and Cellular noise, with parameters for adjusting shaders interactively, including their warp, movement and interactivity.
Lotritsa single out the palette control as the most important feature: a finely controlled palette onto which noise values are mapped. That is the difference between a noise generator and something usable in production, since mapping noise to colour is usually where the visual identity is won or lost.

Export is the part that matters
For anyone considering this as a tool rather than a toy, the export options decide it. Kaleidos exports as an image, a video, or a GLSL file compatible with popular game engines.
GLSL export is the meaningful one. Patterns built here can go straight into an engine as working shader code rather than being flattened to a texture, which is what separates this from a wallpaper generator.
Gallery and sandbox
Alongside the editor there is a gallery for viewing and sorting created patterns, and a sandbox for drawing animated shapes using them.
Lotritsa position the application as useful both for developers wanting to experiment with noise and for anyone who simply enjoys generating patterns, a dual audience the sandbox exists to serve.

Platform support is unusually complete
Kaleidos ships on Windows, macOS and Linux, all three, which is rare even among tools.
The listing includes Steam Cloud, Save Anytime, custom volume controls and a playable-without-timed-input designation. Localisation covers English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Ukrainian.
There are no Steam Achievements, which is expected for a creative tool rather than an omission.

Release status, and a correction
Steam lists Kaleidos as Coming Soon with a release date of 16 August 2026 and no price published, verified on 15 August. It has not launched, and there is no version 1.0 announcement.
Since no price is posted, there is nothing to assess on value yet. If you write shaders and want a fast way to iterate on noise-driven patterns with proper palette control and GLSL export, this is worth a wishlist.
Full details are on the official Steam store page.
