Launched on 25 July 2026 at $12.99 at the time of writing, it drops you into Lunara Mistwalker’s boots as she travels across four kingdoms in the Solrithia Continent hunting for a man she has never met — Jack Bonecroft — because he is apparently the only person who can stop what is coming. Yes, the game is titled after a character you spend the whole story trying to find. That is the pitch, and Jack Bonecroft 4 commits to it fully.

Jack Bonecroft 4 is a story-driven action RPG set across the four distinct kingdoms — Valeria, Thronveil, Voltaris, and Drakenscar in the Solrithia Continent — a world of ancient forests, industrial cities, crystal-veined caverns, and mist-covered lands where the boundary between dimensions runs thin.

You play as Lunara Mistwalker, a traveller from a distant dimension, sent to Solrithia with a single instruction: find Jack Bonecroft. A man she has never met. To a man, she has been sent to ask for his help. He is the only individual capable of stopping what is coming. What follows is a journey across four kingdoms, each of which holds something Lunara needs. None of them is expecting her.

Four distinct kingdoms await — each with its own culture, architecture, economy, and history. Valeria’s golden fields and open warmth. Thronveil’s ancient forest and Sylvari wisdom. Voltaris’s industrial precision and crystal-powered machinery. Drakenscar’s mist, crystal dust, and the particular strength of a people shaped by harsh terrain.

Every settlement has stories. Every library has records. Every person you meet has a life that existed before you arrived and will continue after you leave.

The continent of Solrithia carries the weight of The Conquest of Greed — a war that ended three thousand years ago and still shapes every kingdom standing today. The warrior who ended it, Jack Bonecroft, made a pact. That pact has been waiting for the right person to help fulfil it again.

You are that person. Probably.

You are not alone. L.U.M.I.R. — Lightweight Mobile Inventory and Response Unit — accompanies you throughout the journey. He handles navigation, translation, inventory management, and commentary (mostly the commentary) with a growing log of observations and the occasional moment of something that functions very much like wonder.

The crystal networks across Solrithia have been tracking dimensional pressure for longer than anyone realised. The boundary between this world and others has been thinning. Whatever is pressing against it is getting closer. Jack Bonecroft ended one war. The next one hasn’t started yet.

Bring him back before it does. A story-driven action RPG with exploration elements A narrative with fully written dialogue for (almost) every character Four distinct kingdoms with unique cultures, histories, and visual identities

A companion system built around Lumir — reactive, commenting, and genuinely present throughout the journey A mystery that unfolds slowly across the entire game and series. Libraries with regional history and lore for those who want to go deeper Environmental storytelling through statues, inscriptions, and world details

Based on true events witnessed during my business trip to this sector I RUN OUT OF TEA.!

Jack Bonecroft 4 and Jack Bonecroft Universe are independent productions by Galactic Tenebris Company. All development and design by a single developer(for now).

The events of Jack Bonecroft 4 are based on true events I witnessed firsthand during a business trip to this sector. All kingdoms, characters, and crystal formations are as accurate as memory and game development allow. I was there. I saw everything. What you are about to play is a faithful account of what happened.

P.S. Lu and Mae are my employees; they make sure the game works fine, and also, I am out of TEA. I hope you enjoy my game. — Mr. M., Owner of Galactic Tenebris Company

What Jack Bonecroft 4 actually is

Strip the mystery-title framing away and Jack Bonecroft 4 is a mid-sized single-player action RPG built around exploration, dialogue, and combat across four hand-crafted regions. It is not open-world in the sprawling Skyrim sense. Each kingdom is its own contained area with its own aesthetic, culture, and story beats. However, there is enough breathing room in each region that it does not feel like a linear corridor game either. Think early Xenoblade zones, or the Kingmaker chapters of Pathfinder: WOTR, or the region-based structure of Fable. Bounded areas that feel large because they are dense, not because they are big.

Jack Bonecroft 4’s four kingdoms — a design choice, not marketing copy

The four regions of the Solrithia Continent are the game’s structural spine. Valeria is the introduction — golden fields, open warmth, the tutorial kingdom where systems are eased in. Thronveil is the ancient forest region, home to the Sylvari and the kind of environmental storytelling that RPG fans expect from a temperate elf kingdom. Voltaris is where the game gets interesting — industrial precision, crystal-powered machinery, a steampunk-meets-arcane aesthetic that is genuinely rare in current-gen indie RPGs. Drakenscar is the endgame region, mist-covered and haunted, where the dimensional-boundary lore that Jack Bonecroft 4 teases in its opening finally pays off.

Lunara Mistwalker — the actual protagonist

You do not play as Jack Bonecroft. This is a naming decision worth calling out. Lunara Mistwalker is your character — a traveller from a different dimension, sent to Solrithia with a single instruction. That framing gives the game an outsider’s perspective on the whole world, which is a smart narrative device. Lunara does not know the local politics, the kingdom rivalries, or the history, and neither do you. Every kingdom is a fresh introduction. Solo devs often use this trick because it removes the burden of pre-established lore exposition. Everything gets explained in-fiction because the protagonist genuinely does not know it either.

About that “4” — is it actually a sequel?

Galactic Tenebris Company does not appear to have shipped Jack Bonecroft 1, 2, or 3 on Steam in any obvious way. A quick check of the developer’s Steam page suggests this is either their debut Steam release or their earlier games are on itch.io or lost to time. The “4” in the Jack Bonecroft 4 title is doing narrative work rather than sequential work. It is either an in-joke, a Star-Wars-style non-sequential number, or a nod to something in the developer’s personal history. Whichever it is, it is a memorable choice that gets attention on a crowded storefront. For a solo dev competing with 40 other RPGs launching this week, that is arguably worth more than technical accuracy. PC requirements — friendly to older rigs

The listed minimums for Jack Bonecroft 4 are gentle. Minimum: Windows 10 or 11, Intel Core i3-6100 or Ryzen 3 3200G, 8 GB RAM, GTX 750 Ti or AMD RX 460 with Vulkan support, DirectX 12, and 5 GB of storage. Recommended pushes to a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, and a GTX 1060 or RX 580 — comfortably within reach of any budget 2019-era gaming laptop. Solo-dev RPGs that look this coherent usually mean the engine is running on tight, hand-tuned code rather than an off-the-shelf pipeline that eats VRAM. Anyone with a working PC from the last six years should be able to run it at high settings without drama.

The “based on true events” line

The Steam short description for Jack Bonecroft 4 ends with a line worth pulling out: “Based on true events witnessed during my business trip to this sector.” That is either the developer’s dry sense of humour poking through the marketing copy, or a lore hook that gets paid off inside the game. Solo devs increasingly bake first-person developer commentary into their listings. It signals authenticity and gives players a hook to talk about. Whatever the intent, it is a nice signal that this is not a Unity-asset-flip production. Someone who cared about the tone wrote that line.

Should you buy Jack Bonecroft 4 now?

Solo-dev RPGs at $12.99 are a lottery. You occasionally get a jewel (see Sekiro clones like Lies of P at higher price points, or budget-priced gems like Cassette Beasts), and you occasionally get an unfinished disaster. Jack Bonecroft 4’s Steam listing does the right things: no misleading screenshots, honest short description, tight PC requirements, achievements plus Steam Cloud, and clear language about what the game is. If four hand-crafted RPG regions with a mystery-driven story premise appeals to you, this is a low-stakes purchase. If you strictly need multiplayer or online play, it is single-player only and there is no roadmap suggesting that will change. Grab it directly from the official Steam store page.

Jack Bonecroft 4 is available on Steam now at $12.99 at the time of writing. It supports Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, Save Anytime, and Steam Achievements, and shipped with English audio at launch. We will circle back with a full review once we have run the four kingdoms end-to-end. — Laz
