Witchpop released on Steam on 15 August 2026 from Havlark Games. It is a physics-based puzzle matcher set in a magical soup kitchen, and the losing condition is burning your ingredients.

The pot is the play area

You help Min and her sous chef Max cook with spells to make the best soup possible at the Souper Star Cafe. Ingredients fall into a pot and have to be matched in real time, with physics governing how they settle and collide.

The pressure comes from the bottom of the pot. Ingredients that touch it burn, and too many burned ingredients ruins the soup entirely. So the play area is not a grid you fill — it is a surface you have to keep clear, which inverts the usual falling-block instinct to let material pile up.

Curses accumulate whether you want them or not

The run structure is survival-based. Curses accumulate over time, and you survive as long as you can while chasing the highest score.

That makes the game a decaying system rather than a static challenge. You are not getting better at a fixed board; you are managing a situation that is steadily getting worse, and the score reflects how long you held it together.

Risk and reward, stated explicitly

Havlark frame the scoring as a deliberate gamble. You can build and store larger clusters of ingredients, or chain combos, to score more — but doing so takes on extra curses.

Spells sit on top as the release valve, usable either to save your soup or to push for a higher score. That is a genuine decision point rather than a panic button: spending a spell defensively costs you the points it could have generated.

Controller support and platform

Witchpop is single-player with full controller support, plus DualShock and DualSense support specifically listed, and Family Sharing.

Worth flagging what is missing: there are no Steam Achievements and no Cloud saves. For a score-chasing arcade game, absent achievements is a notable gap — this is the genre where they usually do the most work.

The build is Windows only and English only. Steam genre tags are Casual and Indie.

Price, and a correction

Witchpop is on Steam at $8.50 with no launch discount, verified against the store listing on 15 August 2026.

One correction worth making plainly: Witchpop is not an upcoming title. It released on 15 August and is available now. Coverage describing it as Coming Soon is out of date.

At eight and a half dollars with no discount, this is priced on the strength of its central idea rather than on volume. The burn-line mechanic is a genuinely fresh spin on falling-block puzzling. Just note there is no achievement layer to chase once the novelty settles.
