Project DeepWeb: Eternal Nightmare released on Steam on 17 August 2026 from NightCat Studios. It is a desktop-simulation adventure about exploring the Deep Internet, and a sequel to the original Project DeepWeb.
The game is an operating system
The whole thing plays out through a simulated desktop. NightCat describe it as inspired by Internet lore and real netstalking experience, telling the story of someone stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time.
You explore what the studio calls an endless, immersive world of the Deep Internet — blood-chilling stories, unsettling people and surreal websites, each written to stand on its own. The format means the horror arrives the way it does in life: as a page you clicked on.

Tools you have to find
Progression runs through software. You use apps and utilities to explore and analyse the Deep Web — some installed by default, others must be obtained.
That turns tool acquisition into the progression curve rather than levels or stats. What you can reach depends on what you have managed to install, which is a neat fit for the fiction.
A sequel, and where to start
This follows the original Project DeepWeb. NightCat have not stated that prior play is required, but given it continues the same premise, the first game is the natural entry point if the concept appeals and you want the full arc.
A free demo is listed separately, which is the low-risk way to find out whether the desktop format works for you — it is an unusual way to play a game and it will not suit everyone.

All three platforms, English only
Unusually for a small horror release, it ships on Windows, macOS and Linux.
The listing includes Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud saves, Camera Comfort options, custom volume controls and stereo sound. Language support is English only, with full audio.
Steam genre tags are Adventure, Indie and Simulation.

Eight dollars
Project DeepWeb: Eternal Nightmare is on Steam at $9.99 at the time of writing in August 2026.
Eight dollars for a horror game with this specific a concept is a reasonable bet, and three-platform support plus cloud saves is more than the price suggests. Go in knowing the horror is atmospheric and text-driven rather than action-based — you are reading and clicking, not fighting.
Full details are on the official Steam store page.
