"Why did it come to this?" That's what the protagonist asks, his body and mind worn to the breaking point. From there begins a journey of rediscoverin
Plodding Recovery released on Steam on 18 August 2026 from Japanese solo developer りんだ. It is a quiet 60-day life sim about recovering from burnout, and the developer is unusually careful about what it is and is not.
Sixty days, one manageable choice at a time
You play Koishi, who had long looked away from the emotional weight building inside him. The game opens two weeks after he finally breaks down, mentally and physically.
Across 60 in-game days he writes in a diary, rests, meets people, and chooses what he can manage that day. The framing is deliberate — not what he should do, but what he can. Through those small rhythms he begins to understand the part of himself he had been neglecting.

The actions are ordinary on purpose
Each day you choose how Koishi spends his time: write in a diary no one else will read, try to sleep, do something easy on himself — a walk, watching videos, reading manga — go out to a bookstore, a bathhouse or a laundromat, or spend time with someone.
There is no heroism in that list, and that seems to be the point. A game about recovery that offered dramatic breakthroughs would be lying about how recovery works. Steam user tags read Life Sim, Psychological, Choices Matter, Dialogue Heavy and Philosophical.
The developer’s own warning, stated plainly
りんだ include a notice worth repeating rather than burying: the game is not intended to provide medical or professional advice or diagnosis, and if you have personal experience with mental health challenges, they ask you to consider your own wellbeing when deciding whether to play.
That is a responsible thing for a developer to put on a store page, and it should carry weight in your decision. This is a slow, text-heavy game that sits directly with burnout and depression. If that is close to home right now, it is entirely reasonable to skip it.

AI disclosure, and what it covers
The developer discloses AI use precisely: one illustration (the diary screen) was created with the assistance of AI tools, and localisation was assisted by AI tools.
That level of specificity is better than most disclosures manage — you know exactly which asset and which process, rather than a blanket statement. Worth knowing if AI-assisted content affects your buying decision.
The build ships on Windows and macOS, with English, Japanese and Korean support. Steam Achievements and Family Sharing are included.

Three thirty-nine at launch
Plodding Recovery is on Steam at $3.99. The launch discount has ended and this is the standard price, verified on 6 September 2026.
Under four dollars for a 60-day narrative game is modest, and the developer welcomes streaming and video uploads, which suggests confidence in the material. Go in expecting reading and small decisions rather than mechanics — and take the developer’s wellbeing note seriously, because they clearly meant it.
