A classic text RPG: type commands to explore, fight turn-based battles, manage inventory, upgrade gear, and finish side quests. Chase multiple endings, New Game
The Escape From Dungeon Keep released on Steam on 22 August 2026 from KingBob. It is a classic text adventure — typed commands, turn-based fights — and it opens on a line that does a lot of work: day forty-one, the door is open, and the valley still expects a body.
Forty-one tally marks
You wake in a cell beneath Dungeon Keep. The guards are gone. Forty-one tally marks score the wall, and the game tells you plainly that you know what that number really means.
That is a strong opening for a text game, where atmosphere has to come entirely from prose. You escape the dungeon, walk the wilds of Thornwick, and decide what the mountain under the rock has been fed for a hundred years.

Typed commands, in 2026
This is a deliberate revival rather than a modern game with text elements. You type your way through, with turn-based combat resolving in the same interface.
The audience is self-selecting. If parser adventures are your format, KingBob have made one with a real hook. If typing GO NORTH sounds like an obstacle rather than an interface, nothing here will change that.
An accessibility set that shames larger games
This is where the listing genuinely stands out. It includes Adjustable Text Size, Color Alternatives and contrast controls.
For a game that is entirely text, adjustable sizing and contrast are not nice-to-haves — they are the difference between playable and not for a lot of people. Colour alternatives on top of that is more thought than most AAA releases put in.

Workshop support and localisation
Steam Workshop and Steam Achievements are both included. Workshop on a text adventure points at community-authored content, which is how the genre historically sustained itself.
Localisation covers English, French, German and Spanish with full audio noted. The build is Windows only. Steam genre tags are Action, Casual, Indie and RPG.

Four forty-nine at launch
The Escape From Dungeon Keep is on Steam at $4.99. The launch discount has ended and this is the standard price, verified on 6 September 2026.
One correction: this is not an upcoming title. It released on 22 August and is available now.
Four fifty for a parser adventure with Workshop support and genuinely considered accessibility is a fair ask. The Expanded Edition framing suggests this builds on earlier work, so expect a developed script rather than a jam-sized experiment.
